Week 3 July 2015:

First day of the week we headed to Lithgow, west of the Blue Mountains. This was the first stop on a three week trip. We stayed for a few days with a relative at Lithgow. We have never been so cold. On the first night there was a heavy fall of snow and the town as well as our car was covered with a blanket of snow. The snow took a day or so to melt. The Great Western Highway, the main route from Sydney, was closed due to black ice.

Wildlife observations: On the way to Lithgow we saw a flock of King Parrots under an ash tree feeding on the tree’s seeds. Amongst the parrots these was only one male. We also saw flocks of White-eared Choughs and Apostles Birds on our journey.
