Week 3 August 2004: Rain = 22.5 mm.

We spoke at two functions this week. Firstly we attended the 30th anniversary of the Armidale branch of the National Parks Association. This celebration was held at Yaraandoo Eco-lodge and Function Centre. The Centre is near New England National Park. We spoke about our experiences when we were rangers in the Park.

We also spoke at the annual meeting of the Armidale branch of the Friends of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. This time we gave a double-barreled talk. Our fist topic was about native plants and the second topic dealt with some history of the ABC, both past and present.

We met the head of the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service at the former function. Dr. Tony Fleming was a graduate of the Botany Department at the University of New England and we first met Tony when he was a postgraduate student.

One day this week we had 183 visits to our web site. We are now averaging about 50 hits per day. We are going to add a Guest Book to the site. Any suggestions would be more that welcome.

A Fan-tailed Cuckoo was observed in the garden this week. Obviously waiting for the spring nesting season to start.
