Week 2 May 2012: No rain this week.

For nearly 30 years we have written native plant articles for the Armidale Express a local newspaper. This week there has been a change of published venue. We will now have articles published every fortnight in the Armidale Express Extra a free newspaper. This will mean that we will have a larger potential readership.

On our regular shopping trip, to Armidale, we took our recyclables to the local landfill. On the way back we visited a nursery and of course purchased some plants including a red-flowered form of Grevillea victoriae and Shara a cultivar of Lomandra fluviatilis.

Still speaking horticulturally. This week we potted on struck cuttings of Tetratheca thymifolia and some seedling Passionfruit.

Some time ago we planted our Wollemi Pine from a pot into one of our gardens. We noticed that the foliage has become a trifle yellow. This week we watered the plant with a solution of iron sulphate.

One our Armidale shopping trip we saw and heard six Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos flying over the town hall. It is a few weeks since these large, noisy birds visited Yallaroo.
