Week 1 March 2006: Rain = 24.5 mm
This welcome rain filled our house tank to overflowing.
Planting and mulching is continuing as well as potting on struck cuttings and sowing seeds.
A number of Pied Butcherbirds were calling this week. They have a haunting song that is strangely reminiscent of the first few bars of the theme of the old TV western Bonanza. The star of this show had a rather horticultural name: Lorne Green.
Another of our Grevilleas started to flower this week. Grevillea Bonnie Prince Charlie is a hybrid whose flowers are similar to Grevillea alpina, one of its parents.
