Week 1 January 2017: Rain = 17.5 millimetres

This week our eldest daughter and family visited for a few days. We had an enjoyable time. Our son-in –law and grandson rode their push bikes from Armidale to Yallaroo a distance of about 25 kilometres.  All our children and their families visited over the Christmas/ New Year period.

This week we found time to do some work in the vegetable area. We sowed seeds of five Asian green vegetables. We try to keep a constant supply of these useful vegetables. We also picked zucchinis and the first of our cherry tomatoes.

We potted on struck cuttings of Melaleuca pentagona.

This Saturday was the first talk back radio garden programme for the year. Three listeners called in with questions.

We also watched the final test match between Australia and Pakistan. Australia was victorious again.

Wildlife observation: one morning we rescued a Jacky Lizard from one of our ponds. The lizard had fallen in but recovered after being removed from the pond.
