Week 1 August 2002: Travelling again this week. We took a relative to Sydney for routine medical tests. We thought that the visit would only last for a couple of days but our stay was extended considerably.
We stayed, with relatives at St Marys about 40 km west of Sydney. On most days we travelled by train to a Sydney hospital.
On the way to Sydney we saw many dead kangaroos and wallabies along the highway. These unfortunate animals come down to the road verges for the green pick. Due to the drought, feed is becoming scarce for both wild and domestic grazing animals.
Spent lots of time wandering around the streets of inner Sydney. This is vastly different from wandering around the bush at Yallaroo. Life is certainly more relaxed and “laid back’ when you live in the country.
